We've been renting here for years and love the lake and what a boat ride has to offer. However, today's experience was not the same. It wasn't the lake, it wasn't the boat ride, it wasn't us getting accused of damages we didn't do. It was the female employee at the desk who checked us in and out. In the past we've dealt with the owner and today's experience was not the same. Unfortunately, rude employees can really make you doubt where you spend your money. I'm a small business owner myself and I go out of my way to make patrons feel special about supporting my business. The woman that we dealt with today has disappointed us so much, we will now support the pontoon rental competitors. Mike, suggest you look for someone else to be the face of your business.
Area was beautiful. The boats were nice and check in was easy. However, after coming in from our trip a man who acted like the owner accused us of damaging the propeller and tried to charge us for a brand new propeller. My family had acknowledged the propeller was damaged before we took off and a different employee at the rental acknowledged it at well. He asked if we wanted to take a picture. We did not, thinking it was understood the propeller was already damaged before we left. This should have been a red flag!! SCAM!! One employee looks at the propeller before you leave and another accuses you of damaging it when you get back in. Company tries to hold you hostage at the end of the rental by tacking on this extra bogus charge. We never went anywhere to cause damage to prop and everyone there knew it, including other employees who tried to disappear as soon as we got ashore. This is a total scam!! beware! take picture of prop, or better yet don't use this company at all. They are dishonest. A look at other reviews after our trip talked about a similar experience with this company.
What a great weekend in Munising! We rented a pontoon from Superior pontoons and the customer service was outstanding. So attentive, friendly and the boat was top notch. Mike, the owner was unbelievably helpful and so was his staff with recommendations and directions around town. Truly a wonderful experience and plan to do the exact same trip next summer. Thanks Mike, we'll be back!
Pontoon boat looked new and was clean. Staff encouraged us to take picture of prop before heading out . Had nice day enjoying all the sites that can only be seen by water and thankful we chose pontoon vs. kayak because we were able to see a lot more without muscle soreness.
Rented a pontoon and it ran fine till the end. I noticed it started running rough. I was shown at the beginning of my rental a dent in the prop and they said it should come back like that. When i noticed it running rough I called and they came out with another boat to continue my trip. That was nice. When i went back to return the boat i was told it sounded like it was the lower unit and it had another tiny dent in the prop. I hit nothing and never went to shallow water to cause any damage. We talked about my trip and where i went. I was told if i did cause the damage they was sure karma would catch up with me. Maybe the original huge dent caused the gears to create metal shavings in the lower unit and by them renting it out to me and the shavings working them selves around caused it more damage to the point that it was running so rough. I'm an experienced boater on the shallow lake Erie and also a machinist that could rebuild a lower unit if needed. I know i caused no original problems. They rent to anyone who walks up with no experience. Blame them for the original damage. they should flush the lower unit after any prop damage. Return to basics?
